Hi friends,
I’m Jan, Coleton’s grandmother. I’m reaching out with a heavy but hopeful heart to ask for your support.
For the last two and a half years, our family has been walking a very hard road. Coleton was diagnosed with T-cell lymphoblastic lymphoma, a rare and very aggressive cancer. After a long, difficult fight and a devastating relapse, he was accepted into a CAR-T cell therapy trial in Rome, his best chance at beating this disease for good.
Right now, Coleton and his mom, my daughter-in-law Ashley, are in Rome. He is now nearing the end of his hospital stay post CAR-T. The doctors at Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital have been phenomenal and we are incredibly grateful that his medical care is being covered. But as many of you know, the costs that come with a situation like this go far beyond just medical bills. Housing, food, transportation — none of that is covered, and Ashley is carrying all of it on her own.
Chris, my son, is holding things down at home in Vicenza with their daughter, while doing everything he can to support them from afar. Our family has been physically separated throughout this process, each of them doing their part the best they can but the emotional toll has been heavy, and recently, the financial strain has grown as well.
They need to remain in Rome for at least two more months for necessary appointments and to stay close to his team of doctors. This is still a very delicate time in his recovery. Coleton’s new cells are hard at work, but he remains at extremely high risk for infection and he needs to be closely monitored. We’re currently looking for a safe apartment rental close to the hospital so they can stay nearby and ensure everything goes as smoothly as possible.
That’s why I’ve created this space so friends, extended family, and kind-hearted strangers who want to help have a safe and trusted way to do so. Every donation goes directly to Ashley and Coleton to help them with the basics: a place to stay, meals to eat, and the ability to focus on healing without the weight of financial stress hanging over them.
If you’ve ever wanted to help but didn’t know how, this is it. Every bit counts. Your kindness and support will help carry them through this next phase of the journey, and I can’t thank you enough for considering it.
With all my heart,
Jan
